Magical Night at Kirkjufell 💚

On that day, I visited Kirkjufell during the day.
I did manage to snap some images amidst the hoards of visitors that come there. It was impressive but I remember thinking it's a pretty common image afterall..

I usually don't backup my images on the field, but that night for some reason I decided to do it, in my hostel, within the Snæfellsjokul region. Big surprise, I lose all the images I shot that day, some file corruption problems ☹️ I spent at least an hour figuring out how to recover my images without success, before calling it a night.

1am. As I'm about to head to bed after 2 long days of driving, I get a notification from my aurora forecast app, with a prediction of KP index 2.5. I look outside. Skies seem pretty overcast. It was cold outside that night. I muster the courage to go out and redo the Kirkjufell shoot. This image is the result of that.

Despite the overcast skies, I'm so happy to have been able to capture the green glowing clouds! It was pretty strong auroras underneath as it cast some greenish tones on the waterfalls. Absolutely grateful 🙏💚

P.S thanks to my awesome gear that allowed me to stay out in the cold and capture this. A waterfall at night with mild rain in Iceland is freezing! 🥶
Also I managed to recover my lost images later using
Wondershare Recoverit =)
